The Alex DeBrincat saga reached its conclusion Sunday with the Ottawa Senators trading the two-time 40-goal scorer to the Detroit Red Wings.

In return, the Red Wings sent forward Dominik Kubalik, prospect defenseman Donovan Sebrango, a conditional first-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick to the Senators. Shortly after the Red Wings announced the trade, the team announced they signed DeBrincat to a four-year extension carrying a $7.875 million salary cap hit and a total of $31.5 million.

The Tampa Bay Lightning traded three-time Cup winner Pat Maroon to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night in a move that cleared salary cap space.

The Lightning also traded forward Max Cajkovic to Minnesota, while retaining 20% of Maroon's $1 million salary. Tampa Bay received a 2024 seventh-round draft pick in return.

"The flat cap is difficult for all 32 GMs," Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois said. "It's not tougher for me than it is for them."

The San Jose Sharks on Saturday acquired veteran forward Anthony Duclair from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Steven Lorentz and a draft choice.
